The weather in Columbus, GA in late October will typically feature a high of 72° F (24° C) and a low of 55° F (13° C).

Listed below is information about traveling to Columbus, Georgia by air and by car. Please see the Hotels page for details regarding accommodations in Columbus.

Getting to Columbus: By Air

The easiest way to get to Columbus by air is to arrive/depart from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Atlanta Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. It is a focus location for Southwest Airlines and is the primary hub of Delta Air Lines and ExpressJet.

Columbus does have its own airport (the Columbus Regional Airport: www.flycolumbusga.com), servicing flights on Delta and American Airlines. This is a very small airport, accommodating only small planes (which may present problems when traveling with a saxophone).

Columbus is approximately 100 miles south of the Atlanta Airport and the drive from the airport to Columbus will take about 1.5 hours. If you rent your own car, driving directions are provided below.

If you are not renting your own car, there is an easily accessible, non-stop shuttle van that will bring you directly to your destination in Columbus. This shuttle is called Groome Transportation and a Columbus-bound van leaves the Atlanta Airport every 30 minutes between 12:15am and 11:15pm daily. The cost is $36 one-way and $67 round-trip. They take walk-ups and reservations.

The only somewhat confusing part about taking the Groome shuttle is finding the shuttle station at the airport. So here's what you need to do:

FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS:
Claim your baggage at the International Terminal and take the free shuttle to the Domestic Terminal. Then follow the instructions below to find the Groome shuttle at the Domestic Terminal.

FOR DOMESTIC USA FLIGHTS:
After claiming your baggage, follow the signs toward Ground Transportation/MARTA. Exit the terminal through Door W1 or Door W2 and follow the covered walkway across the taxi pick-up lane to the non-metro/shared ride area on the Green Row. Groome Transportation's pick-up is located on the Green Row in the non-metro/shared ride pick-up area. Just follow the signs to the Green Row. It is the first row you come to after crossing the lane. The Groome shuttles are parked in the spaces numbered 12-15. Please be sure to get on the shuttle going specifically to Columbus. Please check the Groome Transportation website for more exact information: www.groometransportation.com or call Groome Transportation at 800.584.6735.
