Lisa Oberlander has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Her compact disc Times Like These with pianist Yien Wang was released by Potenza Music in 2014, and she is a featured soloist on the Summit Records disc Velocity. As a founding member of the Fountain City Ensemble, Oberlander toured Japan and the US and she is frequently invited to perform throughout the world at the International Clarinet Association's annual conference.
She has collaborated with numerous composers on their works for clarinet including J.M. David, Fred Cohen, Eric Mandat, and Pulitzer-Prize winner Wayne Peterson. In addition to her debut solo compact disc, her recording appearances include performances with Robert Spring (Dry Heat, Potenza, 2012 and Dragon's Tongue, Summit, 1994), and Kelly Johnson (The Clarinet Unlimited, 1998). As an orchestral player Oberlander has performed with the Phoenix Symphony and the Arizona Opera and she plays often with the Columbus (GA) Symphony. She has been featured on numerous occasions as a soloist with the Columbus State University Philharmonic Orchestra and the Columbus State University Wind Ensemble, performing concertos by Nielsen, Copland, Mozart, McAllister, and Artie Shaw. In April 2016 she will perform the clarinet concerto by Unsuk Chin with the CSU Philharmonic.
Dr. Oberlander is a guest clinician at many high schools and universities every year, including a weeklong teaching residency at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. Recent masterclasses include Western University (London, Ontario, Canada) and Idaho State University (Pocatello, ID). Her current and former students have won various competitions and have been featured as concerto soloists with the Northwestern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Arizona State University Orchestra, the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra, the LaGrange Symphony, the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival Orchestra, and the Columbus State University Philharmonic Orchestra. One of her former students was recently appointed Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Additional student honors include first prize of the MTNA National Senior Woodwinds Division and the $15,000 Marcus L. Urann Fellowship from the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective collegiate honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Oberlander's students have been accepted to some of the world's best graduate programs including Arizona State University, Colorado State University, the Eastman School of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (UK), Indiana University, the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College, University of Michigan, Northwestern University, SUNY Stonybrook , and Trinity Laban Conservatoire (UK). Her students regularly attend summer festivals in the US and abroad including the Belgium Clarinet Academy, the Brevard Summer Music Festival, Domaine Forget (Canada), the Hot Springs Music Festival, the Indiana University Clarinet Performance Workshop, the Music Seminar in Kitakaruizawa (Japan), the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, and the Zodiac Summer Music Festival (France).
Dr. Oberlander is a graduate of Arizona State University and Indiana University where she studied with Robert Spring and Howard Klug. She performs exclusively on Buffet clarinets.
