Ronald Wirt has performed as bassoonist with the Borealis Quintet, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Newport and Caramoor Festivals, and with the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Opera, and the Atlanta, Savannah, and Alabama Symphonies. His students have been recognized internationally as finalists in the Gillet-Fox Bassoon Competition, and several have been awarded positions with professional orchestras in the U.S. and Europe. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Stephen Maxym of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He performs as principal bassoonist of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and serves as Associate Dean of the College of the Arts and co-host of the 2016 International Double Reed Society Conference.
