Recent successes in the Schwob flute studio include

  • Schwob flute student Victor Hernandez was chosen to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in April as winner of the 2017 International (London) Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition!! Congratulations, Victor!
  • CSU artist diploma student, Marta Płomińska, was names first place winner of the 2017 Oklahoma Flute Society Collegiate Competition!!
  • Victor Hernandez was named a winner (the only flutist) in the 2017 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition!!
  • Senior flute student Victor Hernandez is the winner of two recent competitions resulting in two performances at Carnegie Hall this semester!!  As a second place winner in the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, Victor will perform at Carnegie Hall on March 23, 2017. His first place finish in the American Protégé International Woodwinds and Brass Competition provides him with a second opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall on April 22, 2017.
  • Schwob flutists Marta Plominska and Victor Hernandez were both prize winners in the 2016 Georgia Philharmonic Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition. Marta won 2nd place and Victor 3rd. 
  • Victor Hernandez won the Georgia state round of the 2016 MTNA Woodwind Competition and will compete in the south east division in January
  • Lauren Rosenblatt's research was accepted for presentation at the 5th annual Southeast Georgia Undergraduate Research Conference Conference 
  • Ty Gable competed in the finals of the Schwob School of Music Concerto Competition
  • Victor Hernandez is the first place winner in the 2016 Great Composers Competition (Masters of Winds Concerto Division) 
  • Marta Plominska and Victor Hernandez are finalists in the 2016 Georgia Philharmonic Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition.
  • Victor Hernandez was chosen to participate in 2016 summer flute programs taught by Jeffrey Khaner at the Curtis Institute of Music, Jim Walker at the Colburn School of Music, and Marina Piccinini at the Peabody Institute.
  • Victor Hernandez won the Georgia state round of the 2015 MTNA woodwind competition and was awarded alternate winner of the regional (9-state) round of the same competition.
  • Ty Gable was accepted to participate in the 2016 nief-norf Summer Festival at the University of Tennessee.
  • Amber Colberg spent the 2016 spring semester as a student at the University of Chichester, England, studying music education.
  • Lauren Rosenblatt spent the 2015 fall semester as a student at St. Anne's College at the University of Oxford studying Medieval and Renaissance music.
  • Victor Hernandez, Jada Washington, and Alex White were awarded full scholarships to attend Summerflute by the Friends of Flute Foundation. Thank you, Friends of Flute!!
  • Sophomore Victor Hernandez was named a winner in the 2015 Mid South Masterclass Competition. Victor will perform for Jean-Louis Beaumadier at Mid South in March.
  • Allison Lee won 2nd place in the 2015 Georgia Philharmonic Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition.
  • Freshman Victor Hernandez-Ramirez was selected as alternate in the 2014 Mid-South Flute Society Masterclass Competition.
  • Alex Clay was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2013 Georgia state-round of the MTNA Competition.
  • Allison Lee (junior) is a 2nd place winner in the 2013 Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition.
  • Schwob Flute Choir will perform at the 8th annual Atlanta Flute Club Flute Choir Extravaganza.
  • Junior Alex Clay is featured on the cover of the October issue of Flute Talk magazine.
  • Freshman Victor Hernandez performed as principal flute of the 2013 International Orchestra of the Alfredo Saint Malo Festival in Panama.
  • Freshman Ty Gable was a winner of a 2013 Woodruff Award.
  • Junior Alex Clay attended the 2013 Sewanee Summer Music Festival.
  • Lydia Carroll and Allison Lee are two of the three finalists for the 2013 Atlanta Flute Club Competition.
  • Daniela Volkovinsky is a finalist in the 2013 LaGrange Symphony Concerto Competition.
  • As a winner in the 2013 Georgia Philharmonic Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition, Daniela Volkovinsky performed the Reinecke Concerto with the orchestra on February 16, 2013.
  • Sophomore Alex Clay is a winner of the 2013 Florida Flute Fair Masterclass Competition.
  • Nancy LaChapelle is a finalist in the 2012 Schwob School of Music Concerto Competition.
  • The Schwob Flute Choir performed in the 2013 GMEA Prism concert.
  • Nancy LaChapelle was a winner of the 2012 Texas Flute Society Masterclass Competition (solo division and orchestral excerpt division).
  • Dana Volkovinsky was a finalist in the 2012 Atlanta Flute Club Competition.
  • Sarah Bridges is attending the University of South Carolina, working on her Masters in Music Education.
  • Kalyn Todd and Dana Volkovinsky were awarded grants and scholarships to attend a three week workshop at CSU's Spencer House in Oxford, England this summer.
  • Stephanie Erdman performed a fabulous run of Caroline or Change in the pit of the CSU Theatre.
  • Aimee Herrmann, Allison Lee, Alex Clay and Stephanie Erdman were awarded scholarships to attend Summerflute 2012.
  • Nancy LaChapelle was a winner of the 2012 Mid South Flute Festival Masterclass Competition. She had a wonderful experience playing for Jill Felber at the festival.
