Saxophone clinic info

Saxophone All-State Etude Clinic

The goal of the Saxophone All-State Etude Clinic is to give middle and high school students the tools needed to play their best throughout the county, district, and all-state audition process. The morning session will dive into the specifics of saxophone playing and address details related to sound production, technique development, listening skills, and practice techniques. The afternoon is geared towards the audition process and will address specific challenges in each etude, help students develop sight-reading tactics and confidence, and give them the opportunity to experience the audition process through a mock audition.

The saxophone teachers involved throughout the day come from around the state and have extensive teaching experience at all levels. The day will end with a short concert featuring a combination of saxophone solos, duos, and quartets performed by Dr. Joe Girard, Brandyn Taylor, Matt Hess, and Kyle White.

Feel free to contact Dr. Joe Girard with any questions,

Dr. Girard has recorded all the 2018-2019 GMEA Saxophone All-State Etudes, to view them please visit his YouTube page.
